Paro Tsechu

Held annually in the Paro Valley, the Paro Tsechu is one of Bhutan's most popular and spectacular festivals. The festival is held in the courtyard of the iconic Paro Dzong, where locals and visitors gather to witness masked dances, religious rituals, and colorful processions. The Thimphu Tsechu is another major festival in Bhutan, held in the capital city of Thimphu. It usually takes place in autumn, typically in September or October, to commemorate the birth anniversary of Guru Rinpoche, the patron saint of Bhutan. The festival features masked dances performed by monks and laymen, depicting stories from Buddhist mythology and offering blessings for the well-being of all sentient beings. Visitors can also witness the unveiling of the Thongdrol and participate in various cultural activities and religious rituals.
